Gingerbread house

The boy and I made Gingerbread while Little Miss was out with her uncle and cousins buying christmas presents last week. We have made a start eating it now, but feel like we are just topping up from the last meal!
Merry Christmas all!

Zero Waste gift for teenage niece

This year I have been given no hints from my teenage nieces as to what they want for Christmas, perhaps they are just too cool!? Not helpful.
So as one of them is doing environmental studies at college I've decided to give her a zero waste gift, she'll have to at least be grateful I've given it some thought.
I've made ten reusable makeup wipes and their own wash bag. These are lovely and soft actually! I'll be making some larger ones for myself, I don't wear much makeup, but I would use a scrubbie in the shower.
Pattern for the wipes here: http://moralfibres.co.uk/diy-reusable-cotton-wool-pads/
The bag was modified from this pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crochet-baby-sock-laundry-bag
The beauty of a gift like this is, the cotton string comes in a paper strip so there's no waste at all! They are washable and can be used indefinitely!

Reducing our waste Christmas 2017

I've been researching the Zero Waste movement over the last few months,  I have made some very easy changes to our household and it feels good!
The last couple of days I've decided that I'm never buying wrapping paper again. Using my trusty Singer and my Christmas fabric stash, I have made these wrapping sacks! Omg, I'm totally in love!
I've made them various sizes for future use, but mostly just using up fabric which is very satisfying! Mr H likes to have s variety of patterns under the tree so will use several rolls of different paper given the chance, even he agrees that these are pretty awesome.
